Several factors such as topography, soil conditions and climate affect the quantity and quality of secondary metabolites of pasture plants. The purpose of the present research is to investigate the effect of altitude and aspect on the quantity and quality of Persian black cumin essential oil in Siahdarreh habitat of Roshtkhar city of Khorasan Razavi province. For this purpose, the maps of the elevation classes, aspect and was homogeneous work unit of the studied area was prepared in the GIS environment. Sampling was done in July 2022 by systematic random method in specified treatments at three height classes and in three slope directions. Three samples were taken in each treatment, and 27 samples were taken. The Chemical compounds of essential oil was determined using GC-FID device. The results showed that the highest efficiency of producing essence (4.4) is at altitude of 1500-1700 meters and the southern aspect, and the lowest (2.9) is related to the same altitude and in the northern aspect. 15 chemical compounds were identified in black cumin essential oil, the most and least compounds of which are cuminaldehayde (RT) (43.80%) and sabinen (0.13%), respectively. The results showed that the elevation has no significant effect on the quantity Persian black cumin essence at the 5% level. But the mean efficiency of producing essence has a significant difference at 1% level in different geographical aspects. Also the effect of altitude on different compounds of black cumin essece is not significant at the level of 5%. But there is a significant correlation at the 5% level between the efficiency of producing essence and some chemical compounds with different aspects. The highest efficiency of producing essence was observed in the southern aspect due to more light and increased irradiation time. If the goal is to harvest the seeds of Persian black cumin with a high percentage of essential oil in the Siah Dareh habitat, it is suggested to collect the seeds of the plant from the southern slopes.
