Due to the great importance of plants in any type of environmental study, the identification of plants in different areas has a special place. The present study, was conducted for the first time with the aim of studying the flora of Ghoshe Cheshme forest area in Galikesh City of Golestan Province. Sampling was done during growing seasons of 2023 and 2024. In total 157 species belong to the 134 genera and 55 families were identified, from which most of the identified taxa (137 species belong to the 116 genera) were belong to the dicotyledons and no species of gymnosperms was identified. Asteraceae with 20 species, Fabaceae with 15 spp., Rosaceae with 11 spp. and Apiaceae, Brassicaceae, Lamiaceae and Poaceae each with 8 spp. were the largest families. Lathyrus and Vicia each with 3 species were the species rich genera in this study and the rest 132 genera have one or two species. The high ratio of families and genera to the species, indicates the high diversity of plants in the region. According to the life forms, hemicryptophytes with 39% and throphytes with 28% were the dominant life forms in the region from number of specie viewpoint, although,h phanerophytes constituted dominant vegetation in the region. In terms of geographic distribution, 43.62% of the plants were Iranou-touranian and Euro-siberian, 20.8% euro-siberian, 14.76% plural and 14.09% Irano-touranian elements.Due to the location of the studied region which is located in eastern Golestan Province and near to the Khorasan Province, the vegetation of the area is mainly influenced by Irano-turanian and Euro-siberian elements. However, because the forests of the region are along the Hyrcanian forests, the euro- siberian elements are also abundant in the region.
