Abstract:   (7 Views)
A floristic survey is important for each region because it shows the plants and the state of them, which is like a birth certificate for each area. The objective of this study is to present a plant list for the alpine of Nizwa in Semnan province at the highest altitudes. Plant samples were collected and identified to verify the floristic list. Field harvesting operations were carried out in the region in 2022 and 2023. In the studied area, 148 species are found in 35 families and 95 genera. Most of the species in the region belong to the Asteraceae (45 species in 22 genera), the Boraginaceae (15 species), the Fabaceae (11 species), the Lamiaceae (9 species) and the Aliaceae (8 species) Poaceae (7 species), Cyperaceae (7 species) and Caryophyllaceae (6 species). The Boraginaceae was observed in the alpine flora of Nizwa and with high abundance in field studies. The steppe part of the Nizwa is geographically located between two main plant geographical regions, including the northern or Euro-Siberian and the Irano-Turanian region. A significant number of species (61%) belong to the Turani region of Iran. Common species of the Irano-Turanian region and Euro-Siberian constitute 31% of the geographical plant spectrum of the region. The endemism ratio is very high compared to the average endemism ratio (22-25%) of Iranian flora. According to the results, it can be said that this area is located in a transitional area of the plant kingdom.
