Aims

The Journal of Plant Ecosystem Conservation (JPEC) is dedicated to advancing the scientific understanding, sustainable management, and effective preservation of plant ecosystems worldwide. Our primary aims are:

  • To Disseminate Cutting-Edge Knowledge – Provide a premier open-access platform for the publication of original research, comprehensive reviews, and timely short communications that significantly expand the collective knowledge base on plant ecology and conservation biology.

  • To Promote Interdisciplinary Integration – Encourage and publish studies that bridge traditional disciplinary boundaries, examining the complex interactions between plants and their biotic (e.g., pollinators, herbivores, pathogens, competitors) and abiotic (e.g., climate, soil, hydrology, fire) environments. We champion a holistic, systems-level approach to ecosystem science.

  • To Drive Conservation Action – Prioritize research that translates ecological theory into practical, evidence-based conservation strategies. We specifically aim to address pressing global environmental challenges, including anthropogenic climate change, large-scale habitat fragmentation and loss, invasive species, and the accelerating decline of global biodiversity.

  • To Foster Global Collaboration – Build an international community of scientists, practitioners, policymakers, and land managers by facilitating the exchange of ideas and best practices, ultimately supporting coordinated efforts to safeguard plant ecosystems for future generations.

Scope

The Journal of Plant Ecosystem Conservation (JPEC) welcomes high-quality submissions that cover a broad spectrum of topics within plant ecosystem science. The journal’s scope encompasses, but is not limited to, the following thematic areas:

  • Plant Diversity and Biogeography – Studies on species richness, phylogenetic diversity, functional traits, rarity, endemism, and spatial distribution patterns, alongside innovative strategies for in situ and ex situ biodiversity conservation and genetic resource management.

  • Ecological Dynamics and Disturbance – Research on population and community ecology, successional trajectories, trophic interactions, and the ecological impacts of natural and anthropogenic disturbances (e.g., land-use change, pollution, fire regimes, and climate variability) on plant community structure and function.

  • Ecosystem Services and Functioning – Investigations into the provisioning, regulating, and supporting services rendered by plant ecosystems, including carbon sequestration and climate regulation, soil formation and stabilization, water cycle regulation, nutrient cycling, and habitat provision for fauna.

  • Applied and Restoration Ecology – Practical research with direct applications in sustainable agriculture, agroforestry, silviculture, urban greening, ecological restoration, and rehabilitation of degraded landscapes, including the evaluation of restoration success and adaptive management techniques.

  • Conservation Policy and Socio-Ecology – Studies that integrate ecological data with socioeconomic factors, environmental ethics, and conservation policy, exploring human–plant interactions, traditional ecological knowledge, and the design of effective protected-area networks and conservation incentives.
